Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Van Tuinen Art wants everyone to view the artwork, read about the studio, and get in touch, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology. We are working to make this website easier for all visitors to use, and we treat accessibility as part of how we maintain the site, not a one-time task.

Standard and conformance status

We aim for the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. The site is partially conformant with that standard: we have not yet completed a full formal audit, and some content, described below, does not yet meet it. We are fixing these items as we find them.

Accessibility features

The site is built on Wix, which provides a base of accessibility support. In addition, we have worked to provide:

  • Menus and links that can be reached and used with a keyboard, including the Tab key

  • Text content, such as headings, descriptions, and contact details, set as real text rather than embedded in images

  • Descriptive page titles that identify each page

  • A layout that adjusts to phones, tablets, and desktop screens, and that works with browser zoom

  • Text descriptions for artwork and installation photos, which we are expanding across the site

Known limitations

We know of these gaps and are working on them:

  • Artwork images. Many paintings, especially on the Available Work page, still lack text descriptions. Screen reader users may hear only a file name. We are adding a description of each work.

  • Heading structure. Some pages do not yet use headings in a consistent order, which can make it harder to move through the page with assistive technology.

  • Color contrast. Text placed over photographs and painted backgrounds has not been fully tested against contrast requirements.

  • Third-party content. Social media links and any content provided by outside services are controlled by those providers and may not be fully accessible.

  • Contact form. The form uses the standard Wix form tool. If you have trouble completing it, please use the email or phone options below.

Feedback and contact

If you cannot access something on this site, or you would like information in another format, please tell us. Describe the page and the problem, and we will respond as promptly as we can and work with you to provide the information you need, such as a text description of a painting or details of available work by email or phone.
