Overview

This policy explains what personal information Van Tuinen Art collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Van Tuinen Art is the studio of painter Debra Van Tuinen, located at 429 4th Ave W, Olympia, WA 98502. This policy takes effect on October 19, 2026, and applies to this website and to messages you send us through it.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit personal information through the site.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your questions about available work and commissions and to run the website.

Information you give us. When you use the contact form, we receive your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and the message you write. If you email or call us directly, we receive whatever you choose to share, such as details about a space you are hoping to fill with artwork.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this one records technical data when you visit, including your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, and the site that referred you. This data comes from cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Social media. The site links to our Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages. If you follow those links or interact with us there, the platform's own privacy policy governs what it collects. We do not control those platforms.

How we use information

We use your information to respond to you and to keep the site working. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Reply to questions about available paintings, pricing, and commissions

  • Discuss and carry out a commission or purchase you ask about

  • Operate, secure, and improve the website, including fixing errors and understanding which pages are useful

  • Prevent spam, fraud, and misuse of the contact form

  • Meet legal and tax obligations, where they apply

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use contact form details for marketing unless you ask to hear from us.

Cookies, analytics, and Wix

This website is built and hosted on Wix. Wix places cookies and uses similar technologies to make the site load and function, to keep it secure, and to measure traffic through its built-in analytics. Some of these cookies are essential, and the site cannot work without them. Others, such as analytics cookies, help us see how visitors use the site.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site may not work properly. Where required by law, the site asks for your consent through a cookie banner before it sets non-essential cookies. For more detail on how Wix handles data, see the Wix Privacy Policy.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers. Wix hosts the site and processes contact form submissions and site analytics on our behalf. Our email provider handles the messages we send and receive.

  • Galleries and collaborators. If you ask us to connect you with one of our representing galleries, or you are working with us on a commission that involves a third party such as an installer or shipper, we share only the details needed for that purpose, and only with your agreement.

  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Wix and other service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data moves across borders, we rely on the safeguards those providers publish.

Retention and security

We keep contact form messages and related correspondence only as long as needed to respond to you and to complete any commission or sale, and for as long afterward as the law requires us to keep business records. When we no longer need your information, we delete it or anonymize it.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including the security measures built into the Wix platform. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information, such as payment card numbers, through the contact form or by ordinary email.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you. Write to the address or email in the contact section below, and we will respond within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law:

  • California. Residents may request to know, correct, or delete their personal information and may opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, as described above, and we will not treat you differently for making a request.

  • European Economic Area and United Kingdom. You may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or move your data, and you may object to our processing of it. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

  • Canada. You may ask to access or correct your personal information and may withdraw your consent to our using it, subject to legal requirements.

  • Washington and other U.S. states. You may make the same access, correction, and deletion requests described above, and we will honor them regardless of state.

Children. This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us, and we will delete it.
